I took my original idea for a jack-o-lantern and created a new scene with several more elements. In this scene all the modeling was done with POV's native objects and CSG. The pumpkins are created by rotating a series of flattened spheres around the center to get our ribbed pumpkin. A difference with a smaller copy hollows it out and a difference with prisms cuts out the eyes and mouth. The grass is made using Josh English's excellent grass patch include file which allows you to easily define variable sized and shaped patches of grass constructed of bezier patches.

I enhanced the contrast of the final rendered file fairly sharply in Photoshop and then added the type.
