My sister-in-law, Patty snapped a photo of my daughter Sarah, and her cousins, Jennifer and Amber at the lake. I scanned it and did this composition in Photoshop. A larger version in the background was solarized. I also incorporated a fractal I ran in the program Mandelbrowser. The mandala-like pattern was done by creating a gradient in a narrow rectangular selection. This was then turned into a circle by running the polar coordinates filter. Unfortunately, I don't recall the specific transformations I applied after that to get the final result. The forground picture was knocked out with a mask, scanned from a piece of paper which I splashed ink on.
